Submersible Water Pumps
Submersible water pumps come in two main categories, pressure pumps and volume pumps
Submersible pressure pumps
Pressure pumps produce pump a lower volume of water at a higher pressure. As an example a Dabs Divertron will pump 4500 lph with a static pressure of about 5 bar. All pumps have a pump performance curve supplied with the instructions so that you know how the pump will perform with various flows of water. Submersible volume pumps
Volume pumps will expel a much greater volume of water at a lower pressure. This sort of pump would be used to drain water from a pond, cellar or other area that you need to drain quickly. As a general rule volume pumps have a much lower wattage motor and you will normally see static water pressure quoted of about 1 bar or 10 metres of head.
